Parece que é possível ativar as unidades de processamento adormecidas nas Radeon HD 6950 e aumentar o seu desempenho.
Segundo o TechPowerUp , as atuais placas gráficas Radeon HD 6850 presentes no mercado são idênticas às mais poderosas – e caras – Radeon HD 6970. A única diferença é terem unidades de processamento “adormecidas” que, neste caso, podem ser desbloqueados através de software.
Para desbloquear os shaders “adormecidos” é necessário “flashar” a placa com o BIOS de uma Radeon HD 6970. Claro que este procedimento acarreta alguns riscos, pelo que se não se sentir confiante, não deve tentar esta operação.

Governo promete combater pirataria online
O Ministério da Cultura acaba de anunciar que assinou, durante o mês de Dezembro, dois protocolos, nomeadamente com a Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa e a ASSOFT, com vista à criação de um gabinete de combate ao “download/upload” ilegal utilizando para tal um mecanismo informático de monitorização e fiscalização de obras ilegalmente partilhadas. Este anúncio surge um dia depois de ser tornada pública a notícia de que a ACAPOR irá apresentar junta da Procuradoria Geral da República 1000 denúncias criminais.

Air Assault é um jogo focado em helicópteros Apache que tenta satisfazer tanto os jogadores “arcade” como os fãs de simuladores.
A história do jogo segue três equipas Apache pelo mundo, sendo que os objectivos incluem operações aéreas e ataques terrestres (do ar, é claro) na costa da África, nas montanhas do Oriente Médio e nas florestas da América Central. Na realidade, o enredo é pouco importante em comparação com a experiência impactante de guerra. O jogador tem a oportunidade de incorporar um piloto ou um atirador num veículo.
Pessoas com mais dificuldade têm a oportunidade de participar no nível Training, no qual os comandos mais avançados se tornam automáticos. Já o Realistic Mode exige que o jogador apure os reflexos para ser bem sucedido. Por fim, o modo Veteran limita a munição do helicóptero e fornece apenas uma “vida” para o jogador durante uma missão. A campanha single player do jogo possui mais de 15 missões onde vai fazer uso de mísseis e metralhadoras para obter sucesso.
No que diz respeito à jogabilidade online, pode-se embarcar em uma campanha cooperativa (totalmente diferente da experiência “solo”) com suporte para até quatro jogadores.

It was only a few months ago when everyone found out that AMD’s HD6800 series would not be their flagship, rather a performance/price sweet spot. Today we finally have the chance to take a closer look at the new HD6970, AMD’s most powerful single GPU graphics card. Sapphire sent out one of their Radeon HD6970 Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam – Gaming Edition, a mouthful to say the least. But will the performance live up to the oddly long name? Let’s find out.

6970 Details
With the introduction of the 6870 and 6850 AMD was able to refine the architecture that we saw in the 5870 to see up to 35% more performance per mm² and it showed in all of our performance tests. The HD6900 series cards have changed things up once again using a new VLIW4 core architecture along with dual graphics engines. The new architecture will support up to 24 SIMD engine along with up to 96 Texture Units. The GDDR5 memory interface is 256-bit and supports up to 5.5 Gbps bandwidth. The VLIW4 core design promises 10% improvement in performance/mm2 and will simplify scheduling and register management.
To go along with the other improvements AMD also redesigned their power play technology. PowerPlay is a set of technologies that are designed to conserve power when the demand on the GPU is low. This keeps power usage and heat generation to a minimum unless the job requires it. AMD’s new PowerTune technology builds on this and helps deliver higher performance by dynamically adjusting the clock speed during use based on an internally calculated GPU power assessment. The short version of this means that they are now able to throttle your GPU core speed and voltage usage giving you better performance for games and applications that don’t push the GPU’s limits without having stability issues on applications that push your GPU to the limit.

Packaging
With this HD6970 being Sapphires Battlefield BC2 Vietnam edition their packaging design has the games logo and cover art included on the front. Along with that, as always, Sapphire has included everything you need to know on the front of the packaging. The most important information like the model number and RAM are in large letters, everything else is in a nice box at the bottom. All of this information can be a little overwhelming for some, but it makes picking a video card much easier when shopping at your local electronics store. Around back they have taken the information from the front and included explanations of what each means. On the bottom left you will find a box full of award logos from various publications (although the LanOC award is strangely missing) along with all of the various FCC, CE, RHS compliancy logos that are needed.
Inside there is a cardboard box, when opened the HD6970 is right on top wrapped in a static/bubble wrap bag to keep it safe. Under the card and the tray holding the card you can find a 2nd box that holds all of the included accessories, manuals, information cards, and software. A few notable things to mention would be the included 1.8 meter HDMI 1.4a cable, Mini Displayport to Displayport adapter, and a card with information on how to receive your free copy of Bad Company 2 Vietnam.

Pela primeira vez vamos analisar um dispositivo da Madcatz, nomeadamente da serie Cyborg. Existem 4 modelos o R.A.T.3, R.A.T.5, R.A.T.7 e o R.A.T.9. Esta análise irá rodar toda ela em volta do Cyborg R.A.T. 7.
À primeira vista, quando se vê imagens deste rato ficamos na dúvida. Como funciona, ou será que vale o que custa, ou até se a sua arquitectura insana trás vantagens. Duvidas todas elas plausíveis, pois só dá para perceber o que o rato realmente é quando se está com ele na mão, e ai todas as dúvidas ficam esclarecidas. Conhecendo tudo que o R.A.T.7 tem para oferecer, ele poderá passar a ser o vosso controlador favorito.

Geralmente quando se compra /recebe um rato novo, vamos ver a melhor posição da nossa mão e tudo fica a depender da sua ergonomia. Se a posição que encontramos para o rato é cansativa, se todos os botões são de fácil acesso, se é confortável etc. Isto são pontos a ter em conta para qualquer análise.
Acontece que no caso deste rato não é a mão do utilizador que tem que se habituar e moldar ao rato, mas sim o rato é que se molda à mão do utilizador. O R.A.T.7 é totalmente personalizável e ajustável, permitindo-lhe trocar peças e ajustá-las até que se encaixe perfeitamente na sua mão.
O rato tem 9 botões (dos quais 5 programáveis) e dois scrolls. Sim, o rato tem um scroll secundário ao lado dos botões do polegar (mouse 4 e 5). Outra curiosidade é o botão que altera o modo de jogo (drivers), está ao lado esquerdo do Mouse1 (botão esquerdo). O acesso a este é um pouco difícil, mas também é muito improvavel termos de utilizar este botão dentro do jogo.
O rato tem 5600 dpis, e quatro modos diferentes que podem ser alterados com os dois botões atrás do scroll. No lado esquerdo do botão 1, temos as luzes LED para informar o nível de DPI que está a ser utilizado.
